Sahwah Connect
Last updated 26 August 2026.
Sahwah Connect is run by Awakening Academy, doing business as Sahwah Academy, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit school. It is the portal families and teachers use for the Mizana Hifz Program. Questions about anything on this page go to director@sahwah.org.
Only what the school needs to run the program.
From families. Parent names, email addresses, a phone number, a home address, and the names of enrolled children. If you sign in with Google we receive your name and email address from Google, and nothing else.
About students. Attendance, lesson records including what was memorized and how it went, monthly progress reports written by teachers, and pickup signatures where a signature is collected.
Billing. Tuition invoices, amounts, due dates, and whether an invoice has been paid. We never see or store your card number. Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe on their own pages.
From teachers and staff. Name, email, phone, and the portal credentials used to sign in.
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not build profiles for any purpose outside the school.
To enroll students, take attendance, record Quran progress, write reports for parents, issue and receipt tuition invoices, and contact families about their own children. That is the whole list.
Within the school, teachers see the students they teach and administrators see the families they bill. Parents see their own children and nobody else's.
Outside the school we use a small number of service providers, and each one receives only what its job requires:
Cloudflare hosts the site and the database. Google provides sign in and the school's email. Stripe processes card payments. Resend delivers our email to you. Intuit QuickBooks holds the school's accounting records. Plaid reads the school's own bank account so we can match tuition payments to invoices. Plaid receives no family data. Google Gemini is used to draft a summary of a student's month from their own lesson records, which a teacher then reviews before anything is published.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with anyone else, and we do not disclose it except where the law requires it.
Enrollment and contact details: while your child is enrolled, then three years.
Attendance, lessons, and reports: while your child is enrolled, then three years, so we can answer questions about past progress.
Billing records: seven years, because tax rules require it.
Pickup signatures: one year.
Portal sign in links and PINs: revoked as soon as a family or staff member leaves.
We review this schedule once a year and delete what has passed it.
Write to director@sahwah.org and we will show you everything we hold about your family, correct anything wrong, or delete it. We will answer within 30 days. Billing records we have to keep for tax reasons are the one thing we cannot delete on request, and we will tell you if that applies.
Asking us to delete your records means we can no longer run the portal for your family.
Records about students are created by the school as part of running the program, and are visible only to that child's own parents and to their teachers. Children do not have their own logins and we collect nothing directly from them.
Everything travels over an encrypted connection. The database is encrypted where it is stored. Access is limited to the staff who need it, and accounts that handle family or financial data require two step sign in.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and email families if the change matters.
